Negative taken for September 4, 1958, Arkansas Gazette article "Colorful Ozark Landmark Is Saved for Prosperity," B1:2. Mr. Frank F. Latta (Sept. 18, 1892-May, 1983) of Pescadero, San Mateo County, California gave a dedication address for the Latta House that he donated to the Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park at a reunion on August 30 through September 1, 1958. The house is part of the "Vineyard Village" in the Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park in Prairie Grove, Washington County, Arkansas. Built by John Latta at Vineyard in 1834, the building housed the Vineyard Post Office until a new one was started at Evansville in 1836. Pictured is the Latta barn.

Frank Forrest Latta, son of Presbyterian minister Eli C. Latta and teacher Harmonia Campbell, was born September 18, 1892 in Stanislaus County, California. As a young boy Latta worked on several ranches in the San Joaquin Valley and became interested in the stories of the early pioneers, and in 1906 began interviewing people and gathering research regarding early life and early farming in California.
